July is over and now what?

We returned from visiting Robyn and family on the 29th of July. We had a very relaxing and wonderful trip and I'd do it all over again. We had our 3 day, 2 night get away on PEI which was the highlight of the trip for me. Not counting being with family of course. While we were touring the Green Gables grounds, Gilbert and Anne walked up to our group and said "Hi, how are you today?" I nearly gasped as it caught me off guard. They were real people dressed up like them and apparently that was their job all day.

In Summerside we took in a live production at the Summerside College of Piping. The fiddle, bagpipes, drums, tap dancers, highland dancers and Celtic soloist was worth every penny to see.
Then later, Daryl took a week off and we all went to Cape Breton together for 3 days. We camped at a cabin with their tent set up beside us. We had a lot of wonderful weather to enjoy the breathtaking scenery but also had a windy rainy day when we drove to the tip, Meat Cove, and enjoy lunch there. Someones little blue tent went down over the cliff in the wind while we were there. We assumed no one was in it!

We also timed our trip to include the Tall Ships festival in the Halifax harbour, and actually got to see them coming in from the Herring Cove lookoff. I've never been up close to a large ship before and it was quite an eyeopener. After they were docked we walked around reading some of the plaques by each ship which gave all the data, info, etc. I liked reading where they are from as they were from all over the world. One ship had an all female crew! A lot of them have college age kids on them for the purpose of learning how to sail a large ship, or at least be a part of the crew. We could see them washing their dishes or doing other work close up. Once we looked up high and saw some guys working on the rigging. They had their harnesses on of course, in case they accidently fell.

We had stopped at a store in Wpg. when we returned and Merle ran in alone to pick up something. While he was inside he got the call that Mary Jane had taken her flight to heaven a few hours prior. I'd been sitting there thinking about her and being amazed that I'd be able to see her again when we got home. Then he came out and told me the news. We had one more stop to make and while I was sitting there I looked up and saw a beautiful rainbow straight ahead of me.

We came home to a clean house, and a quiet girl who, we think, was glad to see us. We were glad to see her safe and happy and things have gone quite well since our return. We hosted Don and Marilyn over the funeral time and now it's "back to normal"--whatever that means.

We had so much rain that the slugs are taking over it seems. I want to get out today and see if I can salvage my petunias and some garden things.

Next on the list is our staff meetings, Aug. 18-20, here in town. I'm helping coordinate a few aspects of it, but hopefully by the time it's actually here I'll be able to just enjoy listening to our speaker (Larry Wilson) and interact with our staff.

Before we know it August too will be history!
I need to downsize some photos so maybe another day. Don't hold your breath, and if you're really desperate for them email me and I'll send you an invite for Fliker.

I'm still alive

It's just that I couldn't get blogger to cooperate first of all. Then too, I'm about too old to have a teenager in the house, I guess.
Yes, Silver's been here since April 24th. We've had our good times and our not so good ones. Then one of her friends took her own life (well, Silver says she doesn't think it was suicide....), so she went home to Pik. for the funeral. Apparently she was doing o.k. for the first few days but then got pulled back into her old gas sniffing habit again. And it always spells trouble with a capital T.

Anyway, if this post works, maybe I'll take up this venture again. We'll see. Last year Merle and I planned on going to east coast Canada for our 35th anniversary. Then, Robyn's family decided to move out there and we postponed it for a year. We have tickets to fly out of Wpg. on the 15th (less than a week away now), and boy oh boy am I ever excited!

We are trying to make arrangements for Silver for while we're gone and have several different possibilities we're working on. I know God has a perfect plan and it will all work out. Right now though, we are going to have to see if she gets done being angry and comes back tonight. She got ticked about a little thing or 2 today and walked out, doors slamming.

A neighbor is here visiting with Merle and I should probably be sociable. Maybe next time I can do a bit of catch up of our lives the past 2 months. I did a lot of praising the Lord over the week-end of June 21, giving Thanks for the one whole extra year of life that He blessed me with after my heart attack. I am blessed beyond measure!

The busy-ness of life

I haven't totally given up blogging, but I do have about a thousand (more or less) reasons for not being on here lately. Which I won't bore you with.

Life has been coming at me fast it seems. I told Merle the other day it's scary because it feels so much like a year ago at times. Just prior to my heart attack last June I remember crying to God to help me know how to slow down and enjoy life. I do not ever want my life to get that busy (or crazy?) again.

The past week was a mix of interesting happenings around here. MJ and DD from Sudbury were here for one week. Just before they came Silver's friend begged to come for a visit so she showed up on Weds. and is still here. I think. She got mad at us last night and "ran out". We left the door unlocked all night assuming she'll come back to sleep sometime, but so far hasn't returned. She does have other friends in the area, so that's probably where she is. Her dad is supposed to come pick her up today. He was going to come yesterday....

Anyway, you get the picture without a picture I think. Silver enjoyed having MJ and DD here and made new friends. Hopefully she can travel with us to see them sometime. She choose to stay at home several times when her friend went out "looking for trouble" at night. Keep praying for her to know her Saviour as her Friend/Father and Lord of her life.

It's been such a cool wet (yes, even 10" of fresh snow on the 15th of May) spring that it's sometimes hard to believe it's nearly June. I'm so ready to enjoy warmth and sunshine again. We've had around 5 days here and there between the rain and snow to sit on the back porch and soak in the sun. And enough warm days to rake the lawn. I still need time on a warm day to get into flower beds. But it will come, I sure.

So, until next time....I continue to live in Christ's Unfailing Love.
